DESERT CITY PREP ACADEMICS

Academics That Move Student-Athletes Forward

Basketball may create opportunities, but academics help student-athletes take advantage of them. Desert City Prep is committed to developing students who are prepared for college both on and off the court.

Basketball Doesn't Replace Education.

Our athletes train every day. They compete at a high level. But they are students first.

Every player is expected to stay engaged academically, complete coursework, communicate responsibly, and prepare for college expectations. The same discipline required on the court is expected in the classroom.

“Basketball can open the door.
Education helps you walk through it.”

Academic Accountability

Student-athletes are placed in an academic environment that supports focus, consistency, and accountability. Attendance, engagement, and completion of assignments are monitored so players understand that academics are not optional.

Players are expected to take their schoolwork seriously and develop the habits needed to succeed at the next level: staying organized, asking for help, meeting deadlines, and communicating with teachers and staff.

Flexible Online Learning

Online coursework gives athletes the flexibility they need while balancing training, games, travel, and personal development. Students can complete assignments on the road without falling behind.

Our structure pairs that flexibility with clear expectations and regular check-ins so students learn how to manage their time, stay ahead of deadlines, and communicate proactively about their workload.

College Readiness

Our academic structure helps student-athletes prepare for college expectations both in the classroom and as athletes. Grades, eligibility, and communication all shape how college coaches evaluate a recruit.

We help players understand that being college-ready means more than being talented on the court. It means showing up prepared, following through, and building a track record that college programs can trust.

Student Support

Desert City Prep creates an environment where student-athletes are expected to show up, stay organized, complete their work, and communicate. Staff members help monitor progress and encourage accountability.

Players have space and structure to focus on schoolwork, develop time-management skills, and build habits that will serve them throughout college and beyond.
